These tools offer a flexible alternative for those seeking timely support. Since 2017, all therapists in Germany have been required to keep 250 minutes per week open for people with urgent needs. The good news is that most services are covered, meaning you typically won’t pay out of pocket.
In a previous issueof this journal, the impact of stigma on people with mental illness was discussed(5). These free online training modules help people develop their skills and confidence in providing key psychological support on issues such as job worries, bereavement or isolation. In addition, all government departments are committing to promote Public Health England’s Psychological First Aid training to their workers and volunteers to develop their skills and confidence in providing support to those affected by COVID-19. I am acutely aware of the impact the pandemic has had on the mental health and wellbeing of many. Almost half (49.7%) of all adults with a serious mental illness received virtual care, as did a quarter (25.6%) of adults with a non-serious mental illness, according to SAMHSA data. More than one in five adults in the US — about 58 million people — lives with a mental illness.
ANAD is an organization offering help to people with eating disorders through advice and multidisciplinary therapy. They may offer you a referral to specialized care such as a psychosomatic clinic. If you are living with an eating disorder, speak to your family doctor, who can provide assistance. This includes free services such as addiction counseling, prevention, and self-help.

In Jordan, mhGAP was integrated into the pre-service nationaltraining curriculum for family physicians. Mental health occupations are very demanding; they are also often underpaid. People with chronic and severe conditions rarely have the private means to afford their own care, which is often complex and highly labor-intensive. In particular, I show that an alliance between public employees and their managers is key. The two groups also differ in the kinds of welfare programs for which they most advocate.
